Production Diary - First Half Term

Production Diary - First Half Term

Lesson 1: Finding a song that we all want to make a video too. Bands mentioned include Bombay Bicycle Club, The Rifles and The xx.

Lesson 2: A song is decided, for the moment, as What If by Bombay Bicycle Club.

Lesson 3: We have changed our minds and decided our song as Go Lucky by The Rifles.

Lesson 4: An idea for a music video has been decided. Inspiration has been taken from the video for 'I Need Your Love'. Now we have to create a timeline of events.

Lesson 5: Dom worked a timeline for the song, looking at the transitions between verses and choruses. Megan and Sarah tested the GoPro camera, to see if it was appropriate for use in our video.

Lesson 6: The lip sycning task was filmed, with Dom singing Wonderwall and Sam singing Go Lucky, the song which we are doing.

Lesson 7: The lip syncing task was edited, meanwhile Dom edited GoPro footage taken from the weekend.

Lesson 8: We looked at good examples of graphic match, which is something we are interested in replicating.

Lesson 9: All the group tried to decide what to name the band/solo artist. Also, an album and song name.

Lesson 10: Sarah started the website whilst we updated our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Lesson 11: Sarah made a lyric video for the new single, we also kept creating the website.

Lesson 12: We started the storyboard for our music video, giving ideas of what we could film in the final assessment.

Lesson 13: After a group discussion, we decided to change from a band to a solo artist, named Alex Echo. We then updated all our social media sites.

Lesson 14: We finished storyboarding the music video.

Lesson 15: We started the filming of our music video, going into the drama room and using the lights to film the performance element of our video. Just the chorus and first verse were filmed.

Lesson 16: We viewed the clips we filmed the previous lesson. Also, we updated all our blogs with information we had done in our free time such as digipak research and schedules.

Lesson 17: We did a short photoshoot, hoping to use the photos for the album cover and to post on the website.

Lesson 18: We uploaded the photos onto the computer and chose the ones which we deemed suitable for advertising the artist.

Lesson 19: Sam made some slight adjustments to the storyboard due to some technical difficulties. Blogs were updated with some research and analysis.

Lesson 20: Using the clips filmed in Lesson 15, we used it to make the lip sync video and then rearranged filming for 2 lessons time at school.

Lesson 21: Album cover front and back was designed and uploaded.

Lesson 22: We planned what we would be filming after school, what shots we needed to get and get all the props ready. Then, after school, we began filming for our video. We shot all the performance aspects of the video, with more than what was storyboarded.

Lesson 23: This lesson was spent looking through all the clips we collected the lesson before. We deleted all files which we did not require and named all the footage. Also, we made a short lip sync video, showing how the lip sync will work eventually.

Lesson 24: All members besides Dom were absent, so the lesson was spent updating the blog and website.

Lesson 25: Merchandise for the artist was created.

Lesson 26: Sarah returned from Barcelona with some footage of herself and the city. We uploaded this and chose the clips that would be suitable for the video.

Lesson 27: Megan started work on the Steal-O-Matic whilst Sarah editted her footage of Barcelona and Sam looked at clips of cycling to see if we could use them. Dom worked on a magazine article for the artist.

Lesson 28: Similar to the lesson before, but Dom and Sam took pictures of the artist and started work on the editing of the performance aspects of the video.

HALF TERM: Some filming occurred at riverside swimming pool, getting underwater shots with the GoPro.
